◎ Background/History: tvtropes article / wikia article / mukuro's article
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Nope to both! She is neither a hacker nor does she have a sixth sense.
◎ Personality:
Mukuro Ikusaba, as her Super High School Level title helpfully points out, is a soldier. She is loyal, unquestioning and disciplined. For as long as she can remember, she has been infatuated with all things military; an infatuation that led her to join a mercenary group known as Fenrir at a relatively young age. Being one of those lucky few scouted by Hope's Peak Academy for their talents, she is undoubtedly good at what she does. As her student file notes, she is someone who has never received a single scar despite spending years on the battlefield. She is a soldier through and through.
Unfortunately, her loyalty as a soldier is also what eventually gets her killed. Unexpectedly betrayed by her own sister after following orders through to the bitter end.
For her sister's sake, there is very little Mukuro won't do. Fully devoted to her younger sister's happiness, she follows Junko's one and every word to the letter. Despite being the older twin, Mukuro is very much the submissive party in their sibling relationship. As far as she's concerned, she is a blade forged for the sole purpose of fulfilling her sister's whims. What she feels is irrelevant as long as Junko is happy. If Junko wants her to strike and bring despair to all around them, then Mukuro would do it without hesitation. If Junko wants her stab, maim and kill all their friends—then she would do it, too. It's not a matter of what Junko wants her to do, but of when and how. If Junko asked her to jump, then Mukuro would ask how high. That's just how it is.
The fact that Junko's assassination attempt on her succeeded perfectly illustrates just how much she really trusts her sister. Even though a soldier of Mukuro's caliber should have been able to easily dodge the spears without any trouble, she failed to notice the incoming danger until it was far too late. The thought of Junko betraying her never even crossed her mind, and it shows. After being impaled by the Spears of Gungnir, Mukuro's last words are full of shock and confusion. Even though she's perfectly aware of what happened, she simply cannot comprehend why it happened. She had done everything her beloved twin sister had asked of her, so being tossed away so easily was nearly incomprehensible to her. In DRIF, a canon AU in which she survives Junko's attempt at murdering her, she vacillates between being appropriately appalled and weakly trying to justify her sister's actions.
DRIF also shows us that she would have easily forgiven Junko for trying to kill her. Even though she knows Junko is now out to get her, she still finds herself trusting her and almost gives Naegi a botched up blood transfusion as a result. Years upon years of emotional abuse and manipulation are not easily undone, and it's all too easy for Mukuro to seek her sister's approval under any circumstances. In a way, Mukuro is very much like a dog that's been carefully trained to heed its master. Even when Junko insults her very existence, Mukuro still tries her best to please her.
To say Mukuro would cast away everything for her sister is accurate. Even though she's a member of Super High School Level Despair, Mukuro herself admits that she feels neither despair nor hope at the world. She does not resent the world around her, but she would not be particularly against watching it burn down. The only reason she became a member of SHSL Despair was because of her blood ties to Junko, and it's not unreasonable to think that she would have never joined their ranks if she had not been born Junko's twin. The one and only time she feels true despair is when she is killed, and even then, it's obvious she does not enjoy the "despair of death" in the same way Junko does when she's later executed by the surviving students. In DRIF, this instance is replaced by the moment in which Naegi unexpectedly throws himself in the way in order to save her from being killed. This goes hand in hand with her doubts over her involvement in this whole plot. Although knowing the world is going to be ruined by despair does nothing to sway her, it's only when she realizes that her classmates are going to be involved that she begins to feel uneasy. While she doesn't regret helping Junko bring down society, her heart still aches with the knowledge that all of her friends would probably be murdered soon. In Trigger Happy Heart, yet another canon AU in which she survives, she expresses a similar feeling once she realizes how happy she feels while spending time with Naegi and the others.
To say the least, she is deeply disturbed by her own feelings. Had she survived past Chapter 1, we are shown twice over she would have eventually realized that losing her friends wasn't something she wanted. Unfortunately for her, she never gets the chance to have this epiphany in the main storyline.
That being said, Mukuro puts on a rather icy front around others. Soldiers are expected to be brief and to the point, and that's exactly how she is. In every single class photo she's in, Mukuro can be seen either stoically glancing up at the camera or simply not caring at all. Her demeanor is a rather monotone and dreadfully stoic one, which is why Junko takes the time to describe her as "despairingly-stinky" and "despairingly-boring". When compared to Junko, who is flashy and capable of drawing attention to herself with little to no effort, Mukuro is the painfully boring and painfully drab athletic twin. Because of the type of relationship they have, she firmly believes in this. Not a lot of people want to strike up a friendly conversation with the intimidating looking SHSL Soldier, which just further cements it in her mind.
Still, this isn't to say that Mukuro is stoic and deadpan all of the time. In fact, there are plenty of occasions (both in DRIF and DR0) where we see her become flustered—most of these occurring, again, around Junko. Being socially awkward and dependent on your sister for direction doesn't make you the most confident of persons, and when Junko scolds or insults her, she's quick to go off in apologies. It's more of an instinct against displeasing her sister than anything logical at all. Of course, this kind of incredibly uncool behavior extends to other situations. As DRIF shows us, she's pretty hesitant when it comes to talking to her classmates. More often than not, her speech is sprinkled with verbal filters and unnecessary pauses. Despite how intimidating she tends to look most of the time, she is actually somewhat socially awkward and unsure of how to react to a bunch of things. It's a lot easier to be told to go snipe someone down than it is to be told she's nice.
Finally, due to her canon point, Mukuro will be pretending to be her sister upon arrival. This means that she will be adopting the same brash and domineering personality she displayed during the first game, dropping all honorifics and freely speaking "her" (or, rather, Junko's) mind. As her sister's talent is modeling, she will be going all out while pretending to be a Super High School Level Fashion Girl. This means she'll be flaunting her looks without a hint of shame and teasing boys her age in a way she believes should be expected of an outgoing girl like her sister. Her act, of course, barely resembles the actual Junko's personality—but nobody said Mukuro was a good actress.
In fact, it's pretty obvious to those who are more perceptive that she's honestly trying to hard. In an official chart that shows how other characters feel about her, both Sakura and Hagakure note that deep down she's more of "a quiet girl" that seems "worried" about something. This shows that, despite her best efforts to squash her own feelings, she'll never be able to snuff out her true self. Naegi's interactions with her while she's disguised as Junko, in all versions of Dangan Ronpa's events, only reinforce this. It's hilariously easy to get her to slip up and mention something that applies to Mukuro Ikusaba, but obviously not to Junko Enoshima.
◎ Powers/Abilities:
While Mukuro has no supernatural abilities to speak of, she is certainly skilled enough as a soldier to have gained the attention of Hope's Peak Academy. Despite being part of a mercenary group for three whole years, she was somehow able to avoid getting a single scar during that time. This, as displayed in Dangan Ronpa IF, is only possible due to her ridiculously sharp reflexes. From her point of view, time slows down when she's in the battlefield or in immediate danger, making a single second seem like an eternity and allowing her to dodge without any trouble.
In addition to this, she's highly adept at using a large variety of weapons. This includes (but is not limited to) assault riffles, handguns, grenades, knives and even makeshift weapons made in a pinch. She doesn't posses ridiculous strength, stating herself that she would probably resort to using a sniper if she ever had to take someone of Sakura's size down, but she is agile enough to be able to escape from hopeless encounters without losing her life. Agile enough, in fact, that Otonashi in Dangan Ronpa Zero thought she was flash stepping while fighting.
Other than that, she possesses no special abilities to speak of. As she herself states, combat is the only thing she's good at.
◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:

(three) Spare bullets
(four) Liquid foundation
(five) Make-up set (of this type)

◎ Element: Air
◎ Sense: Hearing. While all her senses are honed to work together in order to give her the nearly supernatural reflexes she's known for, hearing is probably one of the most beneficial when it comes to being able to dodge projectiles she can't really see. Her hearing is so sharp, it's possible she could hear a pin drop if she focused enough.
